This Lavish San Francisco Destination Wedding of Janneth and John was eye catching. This couple made it through college and medical school and still have a passionate desire and love for one another. Here is a little inside scoop about them!
We met in the summer of 2003. Janneth was in medical school at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. John was a doctoral student in the Neuroscience Interdepartmental Program at UCLA. The couple met when Janneth was doing a summer rotation in the laboratory of neurologist and neuroscientist, Dr. S. Thomas Carmichael, John’s dissertation advisor.
John proposed on the rooftop of the Lorien Hotel & Spa in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, along with their Maltese named Charlie (the future ring bearer) and a chocolate Labrador named Samson.
Fondest wedding moment is sharing out personal vows in front of all our loved ones.
We have two dogs, a Maltese named Charlie and a chocolate Labrador named Samson.
We live in Alexandria, Virginia, a beautiful historic district on the Potomac River, just south of Washington DC.
Janneth has an M.D. and is a vascular surgeon with Kaiser Permanente.
John has a Ph.D. in neuroscience and is the Chief of Communications at the National Human Genome Research Institute.

Don’t get overwhelmed by Pinterest! Stay focused on your own vision of the day. Try to infuse your personality into the wedding experience, and don’t worry about making your wedding look like your favorite wedding planner’s Pinterest page. If you’re crafty, incorporate a few of those touches into the wedding, but don’t take on too many projects or you’ll risk getting overwhelmed.
Take your wedding party and family pictures before your ceremony. We spent several hours taking photos around San Francisco before our ceremony, which meant we could spend more time with friends and family during the cocktail hour and reception without feeling rushed. This was one of our best decisions.
Make sure your wedding party is prepared to take care of last minute details and resolve wedding day problems on your behalf. You won’t have time anyway, and you’ll be able to relax and enjoy the experience more if you know that you have people taking care of things behind the scenes. Remember, an event with so many moving parts is bound to have a few hiccups, so improvise and move on. No one will notice the little details except you!
